Future generation more electric aircrafts will require significantly larger power do be generated on board and for this reason, being able to identify which high power/medium voltage AC/DC power converter topologies would suit the best,is important. This paper aims at reviewing the requirements for selecting the best converter topology for this challenge and how this is influenced by the available ratings of SiC switches. A simulation study is carried out with a focus on investigating the capabilities of a selection of converter candidates with a good power scaling up potential.
